The challenge
Offshore environments demand exceptional corrosion resistance, with components exposed to saltwater, hydrogen sulfide (H2S), and high-pressure conditions exceeding 15,000 PSI. Material selection was critical — Inconel 718 and duplex stainless steel (UNS S31803) were specified, both of which present significant machining challenges due to work hardening and tool wear.
Each component required full material traceability documentation, including mill test certificates, heat numbers, and lot tracking. Non-destructive testing (NDT) including magnetic particle inspection (MPI) and ultrasonic testing (UT) had to be performed on 100% of welds and critical machined surfaces.
The project timeline was compressed due to an accelerated offshore platform commissioning schedule, requiring Avada Tools to coordinate raw material procurement, machining, heat treatment, NDT, and final inspection within a 12-week delivery window.
project goals
A dedicated project team was assembled with expertise in oil and gas industry requirements. Specialized tooling and machining parameters were developed for Inconel 718 and duplex stainless steel, with rigorous in-process inspection protocols at every manufacturing stage.

the result
All 120 component sets were delivered on schedule with zero defects identified during final inspection and NDT. Material traceability documentation passed third-party audit without any non-conformances, and the client’s quality team praised the consistency of surface finishes.
The success of this project led to a multi-year frame agreement for ongoing supply of oil and gas components, with projected annual volumes of 500+ sets and a contract value exceeding $4.5 million.
